The black-capped lory is able to learn very well how to mimic sounds like whistling, and even short phrases. In comparison with humans, lories do not have vocal chords, but a unique organ, which is called syrinx. It is located in the ribcage, and birds make sounds thanks to the vibrations of membranes on this organ.
