The cockatiel inhabits Australia.
Its bird nesting season takes place during late spring or summer, though it can even persist as the year is long.
The cockatiel usually participates in a nomadic way of life in pairs and small flocks, sometimes even large flocks. Both parents rotate between their brooding responsibilities and take care of their offspring together. The chicks fledge after roughly four weeks and in the age of two months are able to fly. Even after they take flight from the nest, parents nurture and feed them for two to three weeks more.
Male has in comparison to female larger and darker cheek patches, monochromatic and dark tail feathers contrasting with the female’s horizontal striped coloration of tail feathers.
