  • Do You Know...

Ferruginous duck is an excellent swimmer, diving underwater for a few seconds and only one meter deep. From the lakebed it plucks the aquatic plants with roots and brings them up to the water surface, where it flattens them in its bill and swallows them afterwards. It is equipped to forage near the bottom of bodies of water, ever vigilant while swimming with its head submerged.
