The little owl inhabits extensively managed agricultural areas, palearctic areas. In Slovakia it is permanent dweller of plains and hollows.
Depending on the region bird nesting season might begin in March and end in August.
The legs of the little owl are adapted to digging and clutching, with two talons opposite of the other two. The longer legs provide support for walking and foraging on the ground.
