Location Snowy owl

Owls hunt mostly at night, but snowy owls are an exception. They pounce on their prey, whether the sun shines or the moon glows. Number one on their menu are lemmings - Nordic rodents that are similar to our hamsters. Snowy owls can fly completely silently, so their prey does not feel in danger until the very last moment.

Snowy owls belong to the vulnerable species and their overall population is declining due to climate changes. Only a few thousand of pairs live wild in Europe, while almost the entire population is concentrated in European Russia and Greenland. Outside of these countries, there are only a few dozen snowy owls nesting, and this is not an annual rule either. Majestic white owls are therefore very rare.
