Location Kafue lechwe

Lechwe belong to medium-sized antelopes. Coat varies in colour with subspecies. Kafue lechwe has red-brown colour with white underparts, throat, and facial markings. Males darken with age. The horns are 45 - 92 cm long and are relatively thin. While lechwe do not have scent glands, their coats are greasy and have a distinct odor.

diurnal; social – males and females live separated except for the rut, females with calves live in herds with no hierarchy, males create bachelor groups

    Lechwe regularly graze in shoulder-deep water.  They are good swimmers, but prefer to wade while walking on boggy ground.
