Nilgai antelope are among the largest of the asian antelopes. They have a short coat which is yellow-brown in females and turns blue-grey in adult males. Above the hooves, they have two distinct white bands. The tail has a few white spots and is tipped with black.

Life

diurnal, social - typically herd in small groups of about 10 animals, although larger groups of 20 – 70 are occasionally seen. Males are solitary; once they reach adulthood, they leave their natal herds and only associate with females during mating season
