Native Wallachiansheep are known for their lively temperament, robust constitution, toughness, and ability to negotiate difficult terrain. They can deal with harsh weather conditions effectively. Their wool is primarily white, but black and spottedindividuals also occur. Their facial area is without wool, while some of their limbs are coated in short white protective hair.

    Native Wallachiansheep were introduced to modern-day Slovakia during Wallachian colonization in the 13th and 14th centuries. They belong to the group of the Balkans' "coarse-wool" sheep population. In Slovakia, they have been bred for generations at altitudes ranging from 600 to 1200 meters. They are currently bred as a genetic reserve in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
